A plague doctor was a medical physician who treated victims of the bubonic plague, also known as the Black Death. In the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which was seen as the cause of infection. The protective suit consisted of a light, waxed fabric overcoat, a mask with glass eye openings and a beak shaped nose, typically stuffed with herbs, straw, and spices. Plague doctors would also commonly carry a cane to examine and direct patients without the need to make direct contact with the patient. The garments were invented by Charles de L'Orme, the chief physician to Louis XIII, in 1620. -- Wikipedia

PM2.5 Filter info:
• PM2.5 filters are not equivalent to N95 masks. N95 masks capture 95% of airborne particles larger than 0.3 microns. PM2.5 filters capture particles larger than 2.5 microns.
• PM2.5 filters can be used continuously for 16-24 hours, or for 1-2 weeks when used occasionally.

Why should I use a filter?
PM2.5 filters filter out particles that are as small as 2.5 microns. Virus particles are even smaller than 2.5 microns. However by including a filter in your mask, whether it is a PM2.5 filter or another filter, you are adding extra layers of protection to your cloth face covering. Each of the PM2.5 filters are made of 5 layers of cloth, including two layers of meltblown cloth and one layer of activated carbon cloth to provide excellent filtration. Typically used to prevent the inhalation of air pollution particulates, PM2.5 can help increase effectiveness of non-medical face coverings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is All-Over-Print (AOP)?

All-Over Print (AOP) is a printing method that uses dye-sublimation to print a design onto polyester. During the dye sublimation process the dye is absorbed into the fabric. Since, it is not printed on the surface, like most t-shirts, it provides for a fantastic soft-to-the-touch feel and superior breathability.

AOP is a more time consuming method than screen printing or direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, so the prices are higher and the production times are longer, but the results are most definitely worth it.

Advantages of AOP:
The design won't peel off, unlike typical screen printing.
The design is part of the fabric of the item, so it will last as long as the item does.
The intensity of color is often unmatched.

This mask is well-made and looks like the image. It's bigger than I thought it would be, but gets the job done.

The shipping time was over a month so plan accordingly. The print is all bunched up, not as smooth as pictured so you can't even see the picture. Edit:**If you have issues, the customer service is top notch and I've been informed my particular mask was printed erroneously and this issue was corrected immediately.

This mask was not worth the price. The quality is poor, not a completed product. The material is very thin and the ear loops are not finished. It took almost two months to arrive with no previous notice of shipping delays. The shop owner was not helpful in any way when I asked for the status of my order, only saying they use an outside company to actually make the items and their shipping may be delayed. This shop does not make the items it sells. I’m very disappointed. I should have requested a refund earlier. Do not recommend this shop at all.
