"Roots of Anger" is a painting that palpably illustrates the complex and often dark nature of anger. The central figure, with its roots extending into the ground, embodies the idea that anger can be deep-seated, originating from a place within that is not easily visible. These roots symbolize the causes of anger that are entrenched in one's past and psyche, suggesting that such emotions are not superficial but are instead ingrained and longstanding.

The figure's posture and expression are open and confrontational, encapsulating the explosive and releasing characteristics of anger. Its scream is silent yet resonant, indicating that anger, even when not expressed verbally, can be deeply felt and impactful. The surrounding desolate landscape represents the isolation that often accompanies intense anger, when one's inner turmoil alienates them from their environment and the people within it.

The sunflower, which normally radiates joy and life, appears heavy and wilted, suggesting that the figure’s anger has drained the vitality from its surroundings, implying that prolonged anger can consume one's energy and overshadow the brighter aspects of life.

Birds in flight, typically symbols of freedom and perspective, are juxtaposed with the figure's rooted stance, indicating the contrast between the desire to escape from the sources of anger and the reality of being trapped by them. The birds also symbolize the thoughts and emotions that one wishes to release and the opportunities to move beyond anger that seem just out of reach.

Finally, the overturned pot and withering plants are emblematic of neglect and the consequences of letting anger dominate one's life, leading to the decay of personal growth and relationships. The skull, tangled in the roots, serves as a stark memento mori, a reminder that in the end, anger is as much a part of the human condition as is the certainty of death.

"Roots of Anger" invites the viewer to contemplate the enduring and destructive nature of anger, and the importance of addressing the deep roots from which such emotions stem.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is All-Over-Print (AOP)?

All-Over Print (AOP) is a printing method that uses dye-sublimation to print a design onto polyester. During the dye sublimation process the dye is absorbed into the fabric. Since, it is not printed on the surface, like most t-shirts, it provides for a fantastic soft-to-the-touch feel and superior breathability.

AOP is a more time consuming method than screen printing or direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, so the prices are higher and the production times are longer, but the results are most definitely worth it.

Advantages of AOP:
The design won't peel off, unlike typical screen printing.
The design is part of the fabric of the item, so it will last as long as the item does.
The intensity of color is often unmatched.

What is Giclée?

Giclée (pronounced zhee-CLAY or often gee-CLAY) is a printing process that creates a museum quality, archival print. Special acid-free, paper is printed with fade resistant ink using a state-of-the-art, large format inkjet printer.

What is a gallery wrap canvas?

Gallery wrap is a style of displaying a canvas that doesn't show any visible staples or nails holding the fabric to the wooden stretcher bars. This style of canvas is intended to be hung unframed.

What is a gallery mirror wrap canvas?

Mirrored edges (mirror wrap) is used to show the whole image on the main surface, rather than printing the edges of the image on the sides (image wrap) of the canvas frame. It is usually used when there is necessary detail on the edges of the image. Image wrap is used when the focal point of the image is in the center.
